The fourth Tuesday of the month means that it’s time for the “What’s on my nightstand?” carnival at 5 Minutes for Books.
This month I have my regulars – I continue my chronological read through the scriptures as well as Streams in the Desert and The Intellectual Devotional: American History. I am also repeating I Was Right On Time since I didn’t get to it this month.
There are several newbies this time. Handling Sin is one that I stumbled on by accident. It has great reviews on Amazon, but I’m having trouble getting interested. Time will tell if I can make it through all 600+ pages.
During the last class I took in the spring semester, we read an excerpt from a book by Miroslav Volf, a professor of theology at Yale Divinity School. It was so interesting that I immediately began looking for more of his work and found Free of Charge: Giving and Forgiving in a Culture Stripped of Grace at the library. After just two chapters I returned it and ordered my own copy, knowing that I will want to mark this one up as I read. I can’t wait to start it, but I need to try to finish the Malone book first since it is a library book.
I love American history, and A Voyage Long and Strange: On the Trail of Vikings, Conquistadors, Lost Colonists, and Other Adventurers in Early America (how’s that for a title?) was another of those I stumbled on by accident. It will be after the Volf book.
Last month I read most of the books I had on my list. You can read my review of The Great Eight here. Here are my thoughts on Angels & Demons. The Great Gatsby was the read for this month’s Classics Bookclub, and my review for that one is here. I also finished the King Raven trilogy, but I haven’t posted my review of Tuck yet…it’s on my to-do list, though. What a fun series!
There are many other lists and reviews today at 5 Minutes for Books. I find something almost every month that I simply must read!

Looks like you have lots of things to tempt you this month!
Happy reading.
I like the picture, because you can read the titles (and see how BIG some of the books are, LOL).
Looks like a great list! Have fun reading this month!
